HANDCRAFTED DECORATIVE
CERAMIC TILE

FRAMED TILE

DECORATIVE CERAMIC TILE I TRULY ENJOY THE FLORAL AND BOTANICAL SCENES OF NATURE. ANOTHER AREA THAT I WAS ALWAYS FOND OF, WAS THE OLD WORLD ORNAMENTAL DESIGNS THAT CAN BE SEEN IN DECORATIVE METALWORK.

MY VISION WAS TO MIX THOSE THEMES TOGETHER, AND CREATE SOME DECORATIVE CERAMIC TILE THAT WAS DISTINCTIVE AND UNIQUE.

THE PROCESS ~..TO ADD A LITTLE TEXTURE AND DEPTH TO THE PIECE, THE DESIGNS WERE LIGHTLY ENGRAVED AND ETCHED INTO THE TILE, THEN THE DEPRESSIONS WERE INLAYED WITH PAINT TO ADD SOME COLOR AND HIGHLIGHT.

ORNAMENTAL FRAMES WERE FABRICATED FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL TILE, I REALLY WANTED TO FOCUS ON THIS AREA TO GIVE EACH PIECE ITS OWN ORIGINAL LOOK, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT PEOPLE CAN BE PARTICULAR ABOUT, SO I HOPE THEY ARE ACCEPTED WELL WITH THE TILE.

IF YOU LIKE ART NOUVEAU AND ABSTRACT TILES, YOU MIGHT ENJOY THESE ART TILES.

ORNAMENTAL FLOWER

ORNAMENTAL FLOWER

"ORNAMENTAL FLOWER"...A VIBRANT AND FLOWING DEPICTION OF AN ORNAMENTAL FLOWER. THE INSPIRATION FOR THIS DESIGN CAME FROM AN OLD TEXTILE PATTERN IN THE VICTORIAN ERA.

SOLID STEEL FRAME FEATURING SOME DECORATIVE SCROLLWORK, AND A COLORFUL PATINA, BLEND THE OVERALL FLORAL ASPECT OF THIS PIECE.

I REALLY LIKE THESE OLD WORLD STYLES, TO ME THEY ARE STILL AN ATTRACTIVE FORCE IN TODAYS CONTEMPORARY DESIGNS.

ETRUSCAN ROOSTER

TILE ART

"ETRUSCAN ROOSTER" THIS DECORATIVE CERAMIC WALL TILE FEATURES A DISPLAY OF A ROOSTER THAT CAN BE FOUND IN SOME ANCIENT ROMAN DESIGNS, ETRUSCAN ARTISTS WERE FREQUENTLY EMPLOYED TO DECORATE HOUSES OF THE ROMANS, USUALLY SOME TYPE OF WALL MURAL OR FLOOR DECORATION.

BECAUSE I WANTED TO FOCUS ON THE TRUE SHAPE OF A HISTORICAL DESIGN, I DID NOT ADD ANY OVERBEARING STATEMENTS TO THE PIECE, ALTHOUGH NOT PART OF THE ORIGINAL DESIGN, SOME SMALL CORNER FLOURISHES WERE ADDED FOR A MILD DECORATIVE TOUCH.

TILE IS SET IN A STEEL FRAME, WHICH IS FINISHED IN BLACK GRANITE PAINT. IF YOU LIKE ROOSTERS, I THINK YOU WILL ENJOY THE HISTORICAL VERSION OF THIS ONE.

BLOSSOM WHORL

ABSTRACT TILE

"BLOSSOM WHORL" A BOLD ABSTRACT CREATION, I WANTED TO PRESENT A VERY STRONG FLORAL DESIGN THAT WAS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF THE SOFT AND DELICATE CHARACTERISTICS OF NATURE.

SOMETHING ALIEN THAT YOU MIGHT FIND ON A DISTANT PLANET, IS WHAT I HAD IN MIND.

THE FRAME FOR THIS ONE IS KIND OF GOTHIC IN STRUCTURE, I THINK IT REALLY GOES WELL WITH THE OVERALL THEME OF THIS DECORATIVE TILE WALL ART CREATION.

CORNUCOPIA

CORNUCOPIA

"CORNUCOPIA" THIS DECORATIVE TILE FEATURES A SIMPLE BUT ATTRACTIVE CORNUCOPIA, ALSO KNOWN AS THE (HORN OF PLENTY). TO ME IT REPRESENTS A TRADITIONAL SYMBOL OF THANKSGIVING, BUT ALSO HAS ROOTS IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY.

ORIGINAL IDEA FOR THIS ONE WAS SOME OLD WALLPAPER I HAD SEEN IN A KITCHEN A FEW YEARS AGO. TILE IS SET IN A METAL FRAME, WITH LOTUS-BUD SHAPED ORNAMENTS EXTENDING OUT. THE PAINT FINISH IS FLAT BLACK, GIVING SOME DOMINANCE TO THE CERAMIC WHITENESS OF THE TILE.
