OBELISK

GLASS METAL ART

A DELICATE GLASS METAL ART SCULPTURE IN AN OBELISK FORM, AN ATTEMPT IN MIXING GLASS AND METAL TO ACHIEVE AN INTERESTING FORM AND STRUCTURE. I LOVE THE WAY THE COLOR OF THE GLASS HIGHLIGHTS AND EMBOLDENS THE BLACKNESS OF THE METAL FRAME.

FOR AN ADDED EFFECT TO THIS SCULPTURE, AFTER THE METAL FRAME WAS PAINTED BLACK, I USED A TECHNIQUE I CALL "FLICKING" WHICH IS SIMPLY DIPPING A BRUSH IN THIN PAINT AND FLICKING IT IN THE DIRECTION OF THE OBJECT, WHICH CREATES A SPLATTER PATTERN, I USED GOLD SPLATTER FOR THIS PIECE. THE SPROUTING GLASS LEAVES ARE "AMBER" AND "LIGHT BLUE".

AS YOU MAY NOTICE THIS IS A FRAGILE AND DELICATE PIECE, AND ALSO CAN GIVE YOU A NICE POKE IF NOT CAREFUL, I WANTED TO GIVE THE GLASS LEAVES THE DISTINCT IMPRESSION OF GROWING OUT OF THE OBELISK SHAPE. THIS SCULPTURE HAS GIVEN ME SOME IDEAS AND DIRECTION FOR FUTURE PROJECTS IN THE AREA OF BOTANICAL CREATIONS, WITH MORE FOCUS ON THE SIMPLISTIC DETAIL OF NATURE ITSELF.
