DECORATIVE IRON MIRROR (REWORK PROJECT)

WALL IRON ART PROJECTS...THIS OCTAGON IRON WALL MIRROR, WAS THE FIRST MIRROR I EVER MADE, ALTHOUGH THE SHAPE AND STRUCTURE OF THE MIRROR SEEMS TO BE OKAY, I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE ORNAMENTATION, ESPECIALLY AROUND THE TOP AND BOTTOM BORDERS THAT HOLD THE DECORATIVE LEAF WORK.

WALL IRON ART

I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO CHANGE THIS BORDER, IT IS TO THIN IN STRUCTURE, AND DOES NOT BLEND WELL WITH THE OVERALL SHAPE OF THE MIRROR FRAME. SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE BOLD AND WIDER WOULD REALLY HIGHLIGHT THIS MIRROR MORE.

ALSO THE LEAF WORK COULD USE SOME MORE DETAIL, JUST A HAIR MORE CURVE IN THE BRANCH ITSELF, ALONG WITH AN ADDED ORNAMENTAL CHARACTER COULD DEFINITELY CREATE A MORE ATTRACTIVE VIEW.

SKETCH OF IDEA

WALL IRON ART

NEW DESIGN FOR BORDER .... AS THIS SKETCH SHOWS THE PLAN IS TO USE SOME 1/2 x 1/8 FLAT BAR TO CREATE A SCALLOPPED EDGED FRAME TO ENCLOSE THE EXISTING LEAF WORK. ALSO FOR THAT ADDED ORNAMENTATION A BUDDED FLOWER FINIAL ( REPRESENTED IN GOLD) WILL CREATE THAT LAST PROTRUDING DETAIL OF BOTANICAL RESEMBLANCE TO THIS DECORATIVE IRON MIRROR.

AS FAR AS THE PAINT FINISH GOES I THINK THAT THE LEAFWORK WILL STAY A NATURAL METAL PROTECTED WITH CLEARCOAT, THE FINIAL WILL HAVE A BLACK BASE COAT, LIKE THE OVERALL MIRROR FRAME, WITH A LIGHT TOUCH OF RED AND GOLD HAND RUBBED INTO IT. WHEN TIME PERMITS I WILL ADD THE FINISHED IMAGE OF THIS MIRROR TO THIS PAGE FOR A BEFORE AND AFTER VIEW.
